Christmas, 1997
Mom says I can call this the Book of The Days since I am only going to write about important days, like this Christmas.
If I were writing about every day then it would be a Day Book. Humm. I don't understand.
However, this Christmas was a special day. It is our, my and The Fox's, second, but it is Cookies first one of all!
She didn't even know how to open gifts, or just what gifts were! I did and took mine and hid so Fox wouldn't take them and open them up!
He took Cookie's and they had a Great Chase!
However, I kept my things hidden and when it came time to "kill" the toys, I "killed" mine myself, without help from The Fox!
Santa was very good to us. We received a new cedar bed, 2 stuffed toys each and lots of treats! Some even came from our extended family, Brandy, Jinny, Otis and Xica!
How yummy! We are still eating some of them!
Today is New Years Eve!
My birthday! When I was born I never dreamed what would happen in my life. I just thought I would always be with my doggy family and would live in the same place! What a suprise! I know mom bought me something. I wonder what it is?
Today is January 14, 1998. On the third I began a new class. Cookie went, too, but is in a different one, the beginner class. I am advanced, but I don't think I like it. There is a great dane who tried to bite me! Twice! Mom saved him both times, because I was going to bite his neck!
Mom wants me to do downs and down/stays, but I don't trust that dane. I want to do what my Mom says, but I know I have to keep an eye on the bigger dogs.
What is a little dog to do?
Saturday, February 21, 1998 was a very important day for me and Cookie. Mom took us to class, but things were different.
People and dogs were acting strange and there were lots of other people there, including some with cameras.
Cookie was evaluated and passed to the advanced class.
Then, during my class, I was called out and put on a table where a lady checked me over and brushed me. I didn't mind because I like to be groomed.
But, then they changed my training collar three times! First I had a buckle collar, then a choke chain that was too small and mom almost couldn't get it off, and finally one that fit.
Then they had us do some strange things. I had to walk with Mom in a heeling pattern, then through a crowd of people.
Then they put a big, long lead on me and I had to do sit and down. I didn't want to do down because the floor was too cold, but I did and Mom told me to stay and left! But she only went to the end of the lead. Then she called me. The lead was very heavy, but I pulled it to my Mom.
Then we met a friendly dog and after that went back to class.
I did something new with my Mom. I did some jumping and I loved it. Then we were called back to the cold room.
Mom gave my lead to a lady that I didn't know and left the room. She was gone for a long time, but I was a good little girl and just stood there watching the door.
When Mom came back they told her that I had "passed".
When we went back to my class Mom told me that I had earned my CGC, Canine Good Citizenship.
Today, June 16, 1999, I began a new career! I shall be Pepper, Agility Dog! Fox and Chip and Cookie are not the only dogs who can do performance events!
I learned to do a crawl tunnel, a platform jump, an open tunnel and a pause box. I don't see why I have to go over the bar jumps when it is faster to run under them! But mom says I have to do it.
The crawl tunnel was fun. It is like going after rats down a tunnel, but you can see out the sides! Too bad there weren't any rats around!
